Top Home Service Apps

As vaccines are being rolled out and the nation begins to reopen, more homeowners are finally preparing to welcome contract workers back into their homes. If you are looking for workers in Middle Tennessee to assist you with home services like landscaping, gutter cleaning, home organization, packing and/or unpacking boxes, assembling flat-pack furniture, painting services, changing recessed lights 15 feet above your head, cleaning your home, running home-related errands, or home decoration, then the following independent contracting apps may have just the leads you need!

1.) TaskRabbit

TaskRabbit matches freelance workers with local homeowners, which means you can download the free app, search for help with cleaning, handy work, moving house, hanging pictures, assembling Ikea furniture, delivery tasks, and other house-related tasks, and you’ll immediately be connected with an available “Tasker.”

TaskRabbit guarantees that as part of their pre-screening service, each Tasker has been fully vetted (including a background check), providing you with the peace of mind you need when you’re inviting a new worker into your home.

TaskRabbit is home to more than 60,000 Taskers, 70% of whom hold bachelor’s degrees. Of the remaining Taskers, 20% have master’s degrees, and 5% have earned their PhD. Clearly, locating a qualified Tasker should be a piece of cake!

2.) Thumbtack

Thumbtack is a free app that helps homeowners locate landscapers, house painters, dog walkers, moving assistants, house minders, party planners, and other home task workers who are local and ready to work. No matter what you have on your To-Do list, Thumbtack has an independent contractor who’s standing by!

3.) NextDoor

While the free NextDoor app isn’t an app through which you can specifically hire local independent workers, it does usually provide each neighborhood with an outstanding resource for recommendations. Whether you want to find a contractor who lives right in your area or would like to hire a pro who is known to be the best in their niche, NextDoor is an excellent place to ask your neighbors who they’ve hired, who they would recommend, and who they would never call again!

Available either through their website or their app, NextDoor will ask where you live, ask you to verify this, then connect you with your many neighbors who already use NextDoor as a means of staying connected. Additionally, if you want to be in the know on what’s happening on your street, there may be no better resource!

4.) Angi

Angie’s List, once only available as a paid website, and HomeAdvisor, have joined forces to bring us the Angi app. Angi is a free app designed to connect homeowners with pre-screened, highly-rated local contractors available to work on remodeling, repair, maintenance, and installation projects.

Through Angi, you’ll be able to read reviews from other users across hundreds of categories. Once you’ve read through reviews from homeowners near you, you can book your contractor right on the app! Your estimate will be presented to you ahead of time, and Angi goes a step further by offering in-app financing, allowing you to pay for your home improvements over time.

Are you more of a DIY enthusiast? Angi can still help! Use the app to discuss your project with a contractor via video call, and you’ll receive the advice you need to ensure your efforts yield the best possible results.

If you’re in the planning phase of a project, download Angi now to take advantage of their home improvement planner tool.
